How long have you been a Golf Care customer?

I have been a Golf Care customer for about 3 years now, I recently added my son ahead of our trip to Scotland and with the referral I qualified for a few more free rounds.

Have you ever used Golf Care’s free vouchers before, if so where?

I have used the vouchers a few times at a former De Vere Course (Carden Park) and a Marriott Course (Worsely).

How often do you play?

Once a week, maybe a twice a week in the summer.

Have you ever hit a hole-in-one before?

This was my first time, the closest I have ever come before is probably about a foot away but was never in danger of going in the hole.

How much was your bar bill?

As I was away from my home club I decided that rather than go directly into the bar I would buy a good bottle of whiskey from Edinburgh later in our trip and take back to Hartford to celebrate with my friends. I spent £45 on a bottle of 12 year old Dalmore as it carried a Stag emblem to match Hartford’s Club logo. I must say that it went down very well in all senses of the word!

Give us a brief description of your magic shot?

There was a slight following wind and as I normally hit my 7 Iron about 165 yards I decided to opt for that to take on the 174 yard hole. I was second on the tee, as my 14 year old son who plays for Cheshire U14s off a 7 Handicap had just hit a great shot to about 8 feet. As I set up I and asked him how annoyed he would be if I hit my ball inside his.

I had a nice smooth swing with my favourite club and after starting out a little left it started to come in on the wind pitching in on the front edge green and rolled up towards the hole before seeing it disappear.

What were your of feelings when the ball disappeared into the hole?

As you can imagine it not something you think about how you will celebrate, when it was rolling towards the hole I didn’t think it has a chance on dropping, the hole was at a reasonable level so I couldn’t see how close it was getting other than from left to right. It felt great when it dropped, I was stunned and laughed given my comments to my son before I took my shot and his face was a picture.

We did the customary high five before walking up to the hole to take out the ball and capture the moment on camera. I was on cloud nine for the rest of the day and as for the rest of the round, I can’t remember much of it.  It was great to share the moment with my son who had hoped to be the first one out of the pair of us to get one.

Funnily enough, as if to prove my luck the next par 3 I lined up with the same club, it was a yard shorter and this time I showed why my handicap is not even lower, a push to the right and I lost my ball! A few duffed shots later meant that my record on the day for par 3’s went: 4,1,9,4.

The experience at the MacDonald Hotel was really good and anyone that gets a chance to use their vouchers at Cardrona should definitely try it. They will be welcomed by the friendly staff as we were and we went for a buggy too. In previous years I have taken the insurance and forgotten about the three free vouchers, this year and going forward my son and I will be making sure we use them!
